Are you feeling disconnected, numb or unsure how to let anyone in?

When someone asks you how you are, do you say you’re “fine” but deep down you’re not fine at all?

Do you find yourself struggling to ask or receive support but just don’t know how?

You’re not alone and you don’t need to carry this silent burden anymore.

I published this book for men however women have been wanting to access this information too for themselves and to understand the weight that men carry to bury their emotions in order to present a false sense of masculinity that they can take it all.

If this speaks to you, I invite you to join me for my interactive session to understand and work with your emotions without losing your strength; break the lifelong patterns that keep you shut down and distant; show up with honesty, courage and self-respect in your relationships and lead your life confidently, aligned with the person you know you can be.

This special book launch involves…

📖 A Signed Copy: Upon arrival or before departure, you will receive my book, signed by me to continue your journey once this event is over. You can pay this book forward by signing your name and pass it onto the next person who’s in need of it.

🙋‍♂️ Opening Circle: Check-in where you’re at with yourself in a non-judgemental space to connect with the group.

💁‍♂️ Wellbeing Discussion: A conversation around Chapter 7 from my book, How To Reframe Your Inner Critic, we will explore how to deal with negative self-talk. If you speak badly about yourself in ways you would not talk about your friends, this process is for you. Find where the message is coming from and give it a new helpful role in your life!

🛋️ Optional Hot Seat: One or more participants who consent to be guided and supported through navigating their inner critic to gain insight into a deeper self-awareness and a gentle way of healing a part of themselves.

  • You have lived many lives

  • Synchronicities abound!

Synchronicities

Nathan informed me that our mutual friend Maxence would be at the Practical Philosophy Meetup event starting at 7:00 p.m. that day.

I wanted to meet them both, but this meant I would have to skip my online men’s group meeting.

When I got to the location, the building was completely closed!! I contacted Nathan and it turned out I was at the wrong building 🫨. Feeling frustrated, I asked a guard where the nearest train station was so I could head home.

I walked toward the train station she pointed me to, and… there was Maxence!

met maxence in shinjuku

We had a full 25 minutes to talk on the train while heading to the correct location together. It was great to catch up!

After Practical Philosophy, we hung out for an impromptu men’s group meeting because a couple of my other men’s group friends were there.

So, by following my curiosity and apparently incorrect instructions, I got to meet Maxence and attend a men’s group meeting — all on the same night!

nathan rob adam maxence

What will we do?

  • The first 25 minutes: Rob sharing about “spiritual stuff” including consciousness, synchronicities, near-death experiences, and past lives.. (This part will be recorded.)
  • After the discourse, the recording stops.
  • The middle: you write. Guided prompts, some silence, optional music. You will list anything that is blocking your progress, so you can get some support on it.
  • Sharing: in small groups.
  • Take Aways and Taking Action: one easy thing you will do within 48 hours, and one thing you may ask for help with, if you are willing.

What you will leave with

Two lists on paper: one list of actions you can do. One list of requests for which you need help.

What do you mean, “Spiritual Stuff?”

I am going to talk about “God” or “Universe” or “The Great Blah Blah Blah.” You don’t need to believe in something spiritual. The exercise works exactly the same either way; we’re just sorting our own troubles into two piles and asking for a hand with some of them.

Synchronicities

On Monday 10th of August 2026 I attended a webinar by Carla Berbary and learned a lot about Burnout.

With her permission, I posted my favorite slide from Carla’s talk.

After reflecting on Burnout, I realized I had been online all day, so I went for a walk in nature while listening to a podcast.

In the podcast, David Parker described how his two children had been killed in a tragic car accident; he became a shut-in for one year, even painted over all his windows so he couldn’t see the world outside his house.

His deceased children came to him in a vision and chewed him out. “What do you think you are doing? We have so much work to do! …” No living human had been willing to say that to him. So his dead children came to do it.

🎧 Hear that story yourself

I burst into tears and bawled crying; this story is talking to me! I cried, “I’m so sorry; I’m so sorry I’ve been so scared to be seen. Please help me. Please help me serve.”

I cried all the way home, cried in the shower, then had a good sleep, woke up at 06:47 and meditated for an hour during which the title and concept of my new workshop came through.

Barefoot Rob's Mindful Sayonara Stories: Letting Go
2026 jul 14 blue cup blue whale thai lock snoopy glass bali box clockerchief nin cds 1000

Enjoy afternoon tea in a heartful community, discussing things we hold dear and the practice of letting go.

After 23+ years in Kanagawa, Barefoot Rob will be leaving Japan by June 2027 (yes, a year away, but time flies… plus he’ll be in Adelaide for 3 to 6 of those months!)

This event will be an opportunity to reflect on the journeys we all take in life, a chance to share personal stories, and a chance for Rob to find new loving homes for some beloved items with unique stories!

*

The event will start at 14:00 with a meditation to slow down into the present moment.

After the meditation, we’ll explore how possessions become meaningful and why letting go may feel difficult. In small groups we’ll reflect on beloved items and meanings they hold in our lives, and how letting go can open doors to new possibilities in life. If you’d like, bring a sacred object of your own to share with the group, show-n-tell style.

After the discussion, Rob will share some stories behind his well-loved items that are looking for a new caretaker.

* *

This isn’t a garage sale pretending to be a workshop, it’s a workshop with a garage sale in the back. Moving homes after 23 years involves practical decisions as well as emotional ones; I’m interested in exploring both.

This is also an experimental workshop, drawing inspiration from Japanese もったいない, and the Hobbit tradition of mathoms: well-loved objects that outlive their original purpose but are too meaningful to simply throw away.

Come with an open mind, an optional sacred object to introduce. Bring a backpack if you’d like to take home something from Rob’s collection.

There’s no obligation to take an item. 😉 Whether or not you take something physical, I hope you’ll arrive home with a new relationship to some of your own possessions.
