Entries this day: howdy-from-barefoot-rob-in-japan i-bought-a-bag-of-rice-for-my-phone i-love-phind.com howdy from barefoot rob in japan (written 00:51 Saturday 23 December 2023 JST) HI Sford! Now that AI can help me revive old parts of my brain, I recently decided (for some value of 'decide') to restore my Perl-powered[1] journal entries, which my brother designed based on my concept. He can regex like a pro, but maybe not a Gohd / Ghod (which way do you spell it?) I chatted with Laura in the past two years, but not you in the past decade(s) or more. Anyway, I found CgiUtils.pm[2] in this repo and thought I'd give you a holler. My non-Perl-powered journal is here https://www.robnugen.com/journal/ permalinki bought a bag of rice for my phone (written 13:32 Saturday 23 December 2023 JST) A couple of days ago (Thursday?) my phone started vibrating nearly continuously with its screen nearly continuously dark. Carefully thinking about the problem, I realize that it's acting as if its power button is being held down. Jess guessed the problem is due to getting wet in the pool. At the AU (phone) shop there was basically a bouncer trying to dissuade me from coming in to bother the staff. Frustrating but understandable. They presumably only make money by setting up new or beefing up existing contracts. He said I should contact the back-office shop to get a replacement phone. He suggested I can use a friend's phone to call the number he gave me on a tiny scrap of paper. Walking away from the shop, I recalled a dream with QT where I was laughing about a line from Pulp Fiction: "If Butch go to Indo China ... in a bowl of rice ..." Laughing about this quote with QT in my dream got me thinking of an old hack for wet electronics: putting my phone in a bag of rice to dry out the phone. So I bought a bag of brown rice and tucked my phone into the middle of the dry grains. How long does this hack take? permalinki love phind.com (written 00:13 Saturday 23 December 2023 JST) I dunno if Phind has done it again, but I realllly like 'talking' to it and getting suggestions for things, including writing, fixing code, and now git repo tweaks.
Okay well this didn't work; I'm trying to get But now I'm thinking of something even better; using AI and stuff to help restore my old Perl-powered journal. I look forward to the calendrical sidebar that Fred designed back in the day. Gosh yes that is great! permalinkprev day next day |
