Entries this day: did-some-work headed-kinda-toward-academy kt-in-austin met-noah,-ivan,-chiaki,-nancy,-and-max-for-lunch susan-took-us-to-dinner wedding-ceremony did some work 11:10 Saturday 30 January 2016 CSTWould love to have a project manager for this thing. Three tickets for HA site, and haven't been able to finish any of them. They require more info or send to someone else or get corrected files or determine the request was incorrectly stated. permalinkheaded kinda toward academy 15:17 Saturday 30 January 2016 CSTNow Jon is driving me with Ma and Lin in circles toward Academy. It's fun! Jon said he prefers paper maps to Siri. 16:00Yay I now have skates again! They didn't have extra wheels, but I hope I can buy them online or in Japan. permalinkkt in austin 16:32 Saturday 30 January 2016 CSTGreat surprise to get an email from kT who was like, "I'm on my way!!" and I finally got her message when she was 15 minutes from Ma's apartment! Whoohooo!!! I skated down to the front office to meet her and big hugs before walking back to the crib. HI Lin! Surprise this is kT! and hugs and chat chat as we waited for Ma and Jon before heading out to me and Lin's wedding ceremony! permalinkmet noah, ivan, chiaki, nancy, and max for lunch 14:59 Saturday 30 January 2016 CSTMax bought a car for Noah so we could drive Francois and Flat Stanley across the table. Lin helped Noah with his kanji: ぼくの名まえはのあです。 ぼくの母の名まえは千明です。 I spoke IT with Ivan; his company uses Oracle and some Python frameworks I'd never heard of. I told him about our setup and that I haven't had to deal with team development much, being the only developer in our company. Chiaki has a website she hasn't updated in a while: https://www.mamaism.org/ Outside, Noah was unimpressed with my barefoot preference. permalinksusan took us to dinner 21:17 Saturday 30 January 2016 CSTAfter the wedding ceremony, we all headed to steak dinner at McCormick and Schmicks, where we were all graciously hosted by Ma's friend Susan. Super cool that kT and Susan have (had) jobs in similar sectors so they chatted in secret code about that for a while. Susan has written a book called Bench-Pressed, which she felt compelled to write after serving as a judge within the immigration system in the US. Lin got sirloin steak (which she said was over cooked though she asked for medium rare) and I got parmesian chicken. Most of us got crème brûlée for dessert. Susan dropped me and Lin off at Ma's apartment, and I guess dropped off Ma at her car at her apartment complex. I confirmed with Jackie that kT is in town and may meet us in the morning when Jackie and Paul come take us for breaky! permalinkwedding ceremony 17:17 Saturday 30 January 2016 CSTWe drove up to Mt Bonnell for marriage ceremony delivered by Ma and witnessed by Jon, kT, and Alicia. Fred couldn't join due to migraine. Up the steps from the parking lot, I walked barefoot, and asked Lin to take picutres of me for the TV thing. There were so many people near the top that we couldn't get a very good view, so we headed down the hill a bit and found a stone on which we stood for the ceremony. Ma put on a colorful stole and did a quick freestyle service, addressing friends and family for our happy occassion. We hadn't specifically prepared vows, but Ma asked if we would hold hands and offer Promises(*) to each other. I promised to be supportive and a good listener and a couple other things. Lin did likewise, and we got cheers from some supportive onlookers after we kissed! Super thanks to them, though we didn't take time to meet them as we had to get back to top then back down for dinner with Susan. At the top I chose not to climb onto the "roof" of the overlook because there were too many kids around. After Lin and I walked down to the city side of the view, we came back up and there were kids on the roof! (*) Promises were an idea which came from Karina's wedding, which came from Karina's friend's wedding. permalinkprev day next day |
