Entries this day: coding-like-back-in-the-day good-coding-on-ab-site got-an-external-4tb-buffalo-usb3-drive headed-to-lesson-for-jb i-wonder-if-travis-got-a-new-computer... coding like back in the day 11:41 Wednesday 02 December 2015 JSTI cannot currently load https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js because this "free" wifi I'm on disallows https, so I can't run my page, so... oh wait I don't need jquery to work on a different thing, so I can work on that thing instead. I was thinking it was like coding without compiling, so it reminded me of stories where programmers had to check their code N times before sending it off to be run on the mainframe, and any error would mean losing a day of work. permalinkgood coding on ab site 21:44 Wednesday 02 December 2015 JSTActually I don't know if the code is good, but I'm having fun, and the new part of the site is doing 90% (and counting) of the things I want it to. Basically there's a report system which I made so they can create reports without danger of destroying data. There are some reports they cannot create with my interface, so I created another report system where I hardcoded the query and just let them run it. The new system creates static output though, and they'd like to be able to sort the output a la datatables which I have set up on most of the AB admin site indices. So I'm rewriting the defined report system so the queries will be stored in the DB along with some meta data to say which output fields should be editable. It is even designed to go so far as to allow reordering the columns, though only I control the column order for now. permalinkgot an external 4tb buffalo usb3 drive 13:08 Wednesday 02 December 2015 JSTI just bought an external drive featuring 4TB of storage space for $150. Compare that with my 143mb drive for $300 from 1992 size size-倍 monies money-倍 wow 143 MB 1 300 1 1 4 TB 28000 150 0.5 56000 13:58 reason 8,145 to hate appleNice one. Fucking Apple. Apple sucks. Disk Utility sucks shit in El Capitan OS X 10.11.1 OS X El Capitan: Disk Utility “designed by morons” design ethic + RAID Support Removed + Wanton Bugs El Capitan's Disk Utility is a disgrace. permalinkheaded to lesson for jb 15:54 Wednesday 02 December 2015 JSTHeaded to lesson, bitching to Fred about Apple. He has lost a hard drive due to the same problem, but was able to recover it by sending to his local admins at UT. permalinki wonder if travis got a new computer... 15:00 Wednesday 02 December 2015 JSTHe was talking about it before, and I'm closer to being back in the market. permalinkprev day next day |
