Entries this day: big-quakes-recently late-walkin linux-mint-byebye 日本語を勉強しました big quakes recently 21:31 Saturday 30 May 2015 JSTNot that no one else has noticed, but we've had a few big earthquakes in Japan recently, most recently at 8:34pm. It felt like a 3 or 4 in The Pink Cow, but it was a 5 out in the water. Fortunately, it had a depth of hundreds of miles, so no tsunami. 09:30 Sunday 31 May 2015 JSTCrud I forgot to upload the image snagged from jma earthquake map I've written another entry so the likelihood of my forgetting to upload the image increases with every passing journal entry. This makes me a bit more likely to get a phone with wifi and unlimited data.. Oh dang I've heard they've done away with those plans at Softbank, so certainly they're rare with other carriers as well. permalinklate walkin 19:11 Saturday 30 May 2015 JSTGreat lovely walk from Shimotakaido to Shibuya but now I"m late for drinks with Muchan and Sarupapa at The Pink Cow! Along the way, I met Mat from England but from OZ for past 7 years or so. He's on a week long jaunt through Japan on his way back home. permalinklinux mint byebye 08:30 Saturday 30 May 2015 JSTCinnamon, used by default in Linux Mint, seemed too restrictive in its options. But I guess the worst part: I couldn't figure out how to open an application without using my mouse. I could press the alt button once, then type the name of the app and see its icon, but not actually activate it. I like how Gnome (Classic), installed by default with my current Debian install disk, will activate the app if I press the enter key. So, Debian (with Gnome Classic) is reinstalled on the new old Dell; I'm going to try again to buy a usb nano wifi dongle so I can use the computer at my desk. Edited Friday 5 June 2015: to more accurately reflect my complaints against the window manager, not the OS. Original is here (amongst other places) permalink日本語を勉強しました 08:36 Saturday 30 May 2015 JSTThere are probably errors in the Japanese notes below!
