Tonight's lesson in Akihabara was great as always. The students are all eager and do lots of homework, try hard to speak and ask lots of questions. I love 'em!

Speaking (indirectly) of them, I haven't studied J in two days, even though they inspired me to start again.

middleman is eating spaces

Hmmm

It appears that Middleman is dropping spaces from certain image paths.

I think I wrote

which I think is correct, but Middleman is rendering

thumbs/pathtoimage.jpg for the thumbnail

The image names include kanji, so that may be triggering the problem.

Bah. middleman init is failing so I can't easily create a simple test site to show in my bug report.

Why'd I choose Middleman again? oh yeah, it's a site creator, not just a blog creator. Hmmm.

tentative steps at repaving image paths

Okay, The journal entry I'm writing now is in my journal repo (or will be once I push it there).

In this repo, coming from my old journal, I think there are several instances of URLs like /images/.... in various entries.

I would like those to keep working, but I don't want to put all my images in this repo, or even my Middleman repo because it's more likely to change than my images, and images take up more disk space, generally speaking.

SO, I've created b.robnugen.com and copied from robnugen.com/images all the directories and paths right onto the root of b.robnugen.com

Okay let's live blog this.

and came up with several options.
