Entries this day: Blowin Cornyn_canned_reply Dream Drinking_water Duplicated_code Excised_code Work friendsforfrenzy Blowin 8:27am JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) Gusty wind outside; today will be an umbrella-destroying day for sure. permalinkCornyn canned reply 11:03am JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894)
Senator Cornyn
I imagine you'll never read this, as your "reply" below is obviously a canned message as it has
nothing to do with what I wrote to you.
It's too bad that our once great nation is falling to bits as people are being brainwashed to
believe we have to fight a non-existent foe called "Communim," er, "al Qaeda," oh, I mean
"terrorism." The word may have changed over the years, but the idea is the same: we have to fight
fight fight to stay alive or they'll come destroy our peaceful way of life.
Oh, wait a second, I guess it's not very peaceful of us to obliterate country after country,
Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and those are just since I've woken up to what's going on.
STOP killing the world. STOP supporting Bush Inc in their plan to destroy the world. For fuck's
sake, just stop.
Do something that takes courage: speak the truth: there were no WMD in Iraq; there are no terrorist
cells in the US; there is no global terror network, unless it is the United States. I see through
the sham and I'm helping to expose it.
Sending you love and light, so that you may do the same
- Rob

- - - - For the record, I had basically written something like, Dear Senator Cornyn Please join usalone.com/ in impeaching both Bush and Cheney. But a little bit more eloquently. permalinkDream 7:44am JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) "Who wants to see a fight? I don't want people to fight because someone always ends up a 'loser.' My preference," I continued, "is that people speak more carefully to each other." "Yeah, but it's a waste of time if people are always nice." "I didn't say nice, I said careful. We can still be direct without being hurtful." "Okay, well let me be direct: "Good!" I shouted encouragingly. Now, is that literally true? What is it about me that makes you say I'm an asshole?" I asked. "You try to control people and not let them act naturally." "and?" "and so you're an asshole." "Hmmm. Okay, I was almost with you on the control part; let's go back to that. What people do I try to control?" "You're standing there telling me I shouldn't fight, so you're trying to control me." "Good!" We were getting somewhere. "You believe I'm trying to control you, is that right?" "Right, and everyone else the same." "Okay, we'll get to everyone else in a moment. You said you believe I'm trying to control you. What did I do that makes you say that?" "You said I shouldn't fight." "Perfect. Now, let's rewind the dialogue," We rewound it, and he was right, I had said "should," but I meant to say "want." How did that happen? I was sure I hadn't errored, but there it was. permalinkDrinking water 10:17am JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) WTF I used to drink 2 liters of orange juice every morning, usually before noon. Then the store stopped carrying that product, so I switched to 1 liter OJ. Around the same time, I bought a 2 liter bottle for water, which I would refill at the water cooler here at work. A bit over two (2) weeks ago, I got shocking news from Mia when she did my first reiki attunement: Stop drinking orange juice (eat oranges instead), and glug glug glugging water is not beneficial. Shocked, (*) I stopped glug glug glugging water that moment, and subsequently for the more-than-two-weeks, have been drinking about 1 liter of water per day, max (and only in small sips at a time). I still have the 2 liter bottle; I'm not going to throw it away just to buy another container. This morning, 中谷さん saw me refilling my water bottle, which I had finished the previous day (though it had started the day perhaps half full). He asked, in the most polite of ways, basically, "it would probably be better if you drank less water." I sarcastically (#) asked how much he thought would be appropriate. He suggested maybe one (1) two-liter bottle per day. Now, I like 中谷さん, and I don't actually think he came up with the great idea of saving money for the company by asking Rob to drink less water. But what pisses me off (I don't care that he didn't "protect me," from whomever initiated the request (and maybe it was his idea,) but) what pisses me off is that I had already lowered my consumption OVER TWO WEEKS AGO, and no one noticed/cared/etc. Of course no one noticed the actual consumption rate; they just see my big bottle and remember my old consumption rate. If it was an issue at one point, fucking tell me at that moment, not two+ weeks later after it's already fucking resolved. ($) (*) she basically said it makes the body cold, and when she stopped glugging water, her hands remained warmer throughout the day. I want warmer hands as well, so I was happy to try something tangible to warm 'em up. (#) sarcasm isn't taken as such in Japan; so it's one way I can piss on people who piss me off, "oh thank you very much," in a voice that says, "oh, fuck you very much, asshole," and they think I'm thanking them, and I feel better, and then I immediately wonder how it's perceived energetically. ($) Overall, the lovely part is having gotten a carrot-reason for reducing my consumption, instead of a stick-reason to stop drinking so much. Also interesting: I've recently read a couple of articles from a study saying drinking tons of water per day doesn't enhance one's health. permalinkDuplicated code 12:50pm JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) At least it's not duplicated in bajillions of places, but dang... these are screenshots from six different files in the same project (and they all talk to each other): My basic plan is to first move the arrays to a single location and refer to them from there, then trim down the multiple definitions of these functions. permalinkExcised code 5:00pm JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) I excised the extra array definitions quickly enough. Now I'm "testing," but more like hitting refresh on my FriendsForSale window while semi-testing without much heart in it. I'm pretty sure the code is okay; I think I'll move it online. 10:25pm JST update: I didn't move it online; I'm gonna keep making changes and do better testing (involving other people). permalinkWork 6:24pm JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) Today I got nearly as far today as I did yesterday on work related pursuits, BUT, today included *not* losing a lot of my changes by doing svn switch before doing svn ci. Fortunately, yesterday's coding had been a bit optimistic, and I was trying to do more than feasible.. or, I'll say the changes multiplied as I realized the scope of the problems with this code, one of which I screenshotted this morning. I'm basically reducing the duplicates down to none, and adding some functionality to the code. The code must have been abandoned before it was finished properly; there are some bits that don't make any sense otherwise. For example, a whole set of defines in the main constants class, but then only 1 of them is used elsewhere in the code. The code is designed to display a banner ad, but the banner ads can be specified as one of 13 different types (only half the types have been named), but the code is such that only 1 type can be displayed, because it's hard coded. Need to do something like randomly choose which to display, BUT also have to see what ones are available. I'll need some feedback before deciding how to handle that. permalinkfriendsforfrenzy 10:12pm JST Tuesday 8 April 2008 (day 13894) Hahah fun times on FriendsForSale. I was browsing the random girls who were recently active, and three times, came across one who was way- undervalued, and in a friendzy of friend feeding, for some reason a few other guys found the girls at the same time and we just bought and bought and bounced the price up 50-fold in like three minutes.I can see how this would be equally fun with real money Got a snapshot of Francois owning the most beautifulest girl of the day. I even made a new photo album in expectation that there will be more FriendsForSaleFavorites. permalinkprev day next day |
