Maru or Batsu

I've wanted to be able to do this for a while: using actionscript, call a function in flash and have it do something for a set period of time, and then come back to the start, but *not* lay out a bunch of frames to wait. I set up a onEnterFrame that loops the correct number of frames and then calls a function.

When I call the thing, I give it the number of seconds to display, and a function to call when it's done.

The only problem is the framerate is hardcoded into the script. I'm not sure how to get framerate from flash at runtime.

Oooky blucky whiney rain today. It's stupidly chilly for April; I haven't seen the sun in days. But perhaps that's why we have the phrase about April showers and May flowers.

The rain apparently caught people off guard; I've seen a large percentage of Japanese without umbrellas. Normally if a drop falls here, all available umbrellas pop open.

Work asakaze

Asakaze was a bit wild today. He's 9, so I pretty much don't expect him to stay focused the entire time, so we goof around and play games and such on occassion. Perhaps I should have been a bit harder with him in the beginning, but in that case, he may have chosen not to come back to my lessons, so it would be moot. He's actually doing quite well. He could spell words without writing them down (raccoon, detective, grew, threw, spoon (etc)), though he sometimes had trouble and had to retry several times. (But when writing them, no worries.)

But he did ask for homework. I gave him some vocab words to learn, but he was like, "no wayyyy" and I was like, "aight; don't learn to spell them, but just make sentences with them," and he was like, "no wayyyy" So it will be interesting to see with what he comes back.

Eeek. Really inappropriate at work today. I wanted to bite Ami, and I could barely keep myself from saying something inappropriate like how I wanted to chew on her. Half of the reason is I imagine she is not interested slash totally inexperienced in that department. Goodness knows I don't need to get involved with a virgin.

I braided the long hanging bang that didn't get pulled back into her pony tail. Gave her some ume boshi (her favorite snack), and even split one (my least favorite snack) with her (saliva on it), in exchange for a piece of my similarly coated chocolate (my favorite snack).

And, feeling particulary.... generous/horny, I gave her 5000 yen, which she only took because of the spoken understanding that she'll give 5000 yen back after her payday, but I couldn't care less if she doesn't.

Good progress in flash. Though I haven't gotten to the point where I can incorporate the maru-batsu thing I made this morning, I have finished two discrete parts. Here's hopin' I can get the remainder done before meeting Tariq tomorrow.
