Entries this day: Dream Finished_daysold.pl Great_video_camera_news Smoking Time_to_work Dream 8:49am IST Monday 24 October 2005 I had a dream about my long lost ex girlfriend Christine! I was all affectionate and flirting with her; she responded physically, but then said, "don't do this; you're making me so *hot*," which she apparently didn't want to be. I hypothesized she wasn't single, and therefore didn't want to hook up with me. - - - - Racing downstairs to use the restroom, I realized it would be faster to fly. I flew over the door, through a glass window protected by a grate, and then swooped into the restroom. I knew that I could pee, but that for some reason it wouldn't actually help. However, as a visual joke, I decided to pee myself backwards, using it like a liquid rocket in some crazy movie (*). I peed and flew backwards out of the room and backwards back down the hall, racing my friend back. He couldn't come too close for fear of being pissed on. I won the race! (*) if this has been done in a movie, I don't know about it. permalinkFinished daysold.pl 11:39am IST Monday 24 October 2005 I have just about finished my daysold calculator! It's way way way better than the old one. I just want to add the ability for users to request the date for an arbitrary Nth day. Once I do that, I'll make it available from my top navigation bar, and make robnugen.com/ refresh to robnugen.com/journal. 1:16pm Hmmm. Oliver (*) tried it out and found a bug when selecting 30000 days. It told him some date in 1919. That code uses a quick convert-the-date-to-a-(long?)word-add-(30000*24*60*60)-seconds-convert-back-to-a-date. I bet it's overflowing the word. I'll try briefly to figure out how to make it use more bits in the word, and barring that, I will wipe out 30000 as an option, and then when I add user-choice Nth day, write a note about the limitation until I figure out a solution, which will probably be coding it myself. (* I got the same 1900 result when I tried 30000, but simply didn't notice.) permalinkGreat video camera news 1:09pm IST Monday 24 October 2005 Wow! I mentioned to Anna and David my desire to find some work, and David mentioned he had been offered work, but didn't have a video camera to do the work. I offered my video camera, so he called the guys back and left a message; hopefully he'll be able to do it! I requested 5% of his profit and he offered 50% of his profit, an offer I accepted. permalinkSmoking 1:11pm IST Monday 24 October 2005 Sigh Mohammed (semi-manager of the hostel) has declared the non-smoking room also a non-laptop room. He didn't really say why except having "so many people" (usually 0 or 1, frequently 2, sometimes 3, rarely 4 people) on the couches using laptops is "too much, ya know?" There are 10 couch seats in the non-smoking room, and I've never seen them all filled because most people chill in the smoking room, smoking. I requested permission to sit in the non-smoking room to use the internet. He requested that I try the smoking area to see if it's okay for me. I'd rather have no internet than sit in that smoke. I'll use this as blessing to get myself off the internet and working on Rami's documents. permalinkTime to work 8:12pm IST Monday 24 October 2005 Okay. It's evening. I think I have just about procrastinated long enough. Almost. I'm specifically offline (though still able to write blog entries with Flock!!) and am about to work on the thing for Rami. 8:24pm Oops. I rebooted my computer cause two processes had gotten locked up, but now we are back and ready to go. Except for one detail: I don't have the documents saved locally. So, I will have to get online, get them and get offline to get some work done. Get it? 10:51pm Ben came back while I was reading the front of transliterature.org's website, and we went to get some grub, chatted and watched his chin-up competition videos between him and Dave, talked about girls and Will Smith and Firefly, the pilot of which is 1.5 hours long, so I'm choosing not to watch it at this time. But,..... permalinkprev day next day |
