Entries this day: BookCrossing.com Tickets_to_Tel_Aviv Today themes wordpress BookCrossing.com 2:05am JST Monday 26 September 2005 I found bookcrossing.com a cool site that encourages people to release books into the wild and keeps track of what books went where! permalinkTickets to Tel Aviv Tickets to Tel Aviv Hello, world! In about 10 days I will be leaving Tokyo for Tel Aviv, and then making my way to Jerusalem to join the 2005 Olive Harvest, hosted by the International Solidarity Movement. I believe I will become part of an 'international presence' to help deter the Israeli soldiers from stopping the harvest. From the ISM website (http://www.palsolidarity.org/main/oh2005/) The presence of internationals during harvest time has proven in the past to help limit and decrease the severity of attacks. After a two-day training session, volunteers for the Olive Harvest Campaign will stay in Palestinian homes in West Bank communities and accompany Palestinian families to their olive groves to serve as witnesses to document and expose attacks by settlers — supported by the Israeli Army — on farmers and their families. At this point, that's basically the limit of what I know about what things will be like once I get there! Before I leave, though, I need to get rid of a couple boxes of clothing. I plan to *not* overpack as I did on P.B.!! (I'm surprised at how hard it is to find places to donate clothes in Tokyo). Speaking of which, I have nearly finished my journal entries from my P.B. adventure. I am basically done transcribing; I just need to add pictures to those entries. I also need to decide what to do with my beloved TJ Bike. I'm not sure how long I will be in Palestine, and therefore not sure if it will be worth bringing TJ Bike with me. Money is a big question mark right now, but I trust everything will come together nicely. Blessings to hurricane, typhoon and war torn places around the world, where people are being forced to release their possessions and lives. Blessings to Chesleigh who chose to release her own life. Blessings to all. Love and Peace - Rob!permalink Today 3:06am JST Tuesday 27 September 2005 Today I spent a lot of time on my computer. First, I *nearly* finished transcribing the final tape!! I may do it now after I finish this entry just to be *done* with it!! I got sidetracked reading google.com/ig, which I have set up to show me lots of tech news and stuff. I sent a couple of articles to Fred and Dude for our mutual comments. Dude was like, "we need a blog to talk about this stuff," and I was like, "I got a blog thing," (bbst), and then after a few emails, I was convinced to try out wordpress, which I ended up installing on my site. My basic idea is to put commentary on URLs and crap on wordpress and keep my journal with day to day adventures untouched. permalink themes ##20:08 Monday 26 September 2005 I just installed the Batavia 1.5 theme. I didn't like the color, but I like the design, especially the little squares around the top of the calendar. Dude said it's easy enough to change the colors, so that's what I did. It wasn't trivial; the feedback loop took a few steps, but I'm pretty happy with the colors now. permalinkwordpress ##18:19 Monday 26 September 2005 I just installed wordpress from wordpress.org at Dude's suggestion. It looks pretty cool. At first I was like, "ain't no way I'm gonna revamp all my journal shit, so I ain't installing fuckin' wordpress," but then I thought, "ain't no way I'm gonna revamp all my journal shit, but I could start a non-journal blog on my site, just to keep up with the times." permalinkprev day next day |
