Entries this day: AM Class Lately anti_dinner_dates slideshow zz AM 6:40am Thursday 09 June 2005 At 4am I got up and pooed a bit then took a shower. Feelin' better, but not 100%. Trying to get ready for classes at 9am. I'm wearing my jammie jams out and about in the hall. 8:31am It sounds like I'm feeling better; I just listened to the previous entry, but I'm not optimal. Just took a shower and am no longer wearing jammie jams. Didn't get my lesson planned to the degree I had hoped. I have some pictures of signs around the boat and I told students to take pictures of or write down the words of signs on the boat they didn't understand or thought were interestng. Plan to discuss them today. I synchronized my classes again so I can do the same thing in each. I'm going to go eat now, but am not sure what would be good for me to eat. I'm actually thinking about Hitomi and her letter that she wrote me after I told her to piss off. I don't want her to piss off, but I just want her to not expect anything from me. 9:00am Shit. That was not a fart I cut in the dining room, but I was in the middle of talking to Keiko and Maho and didn't want to be all, "oh, would you please excuse me while I go change my diaper?" and now there is a bit of a wet spot on the back of my shorts I am embarassed to say. Back to my room to clean up and then go to class at 9:30. permalinkClass 11:21am Thursday 09 June 2005 Good class today. Near the end of class a woman came in all, "are you Rob?" "yes.." "How about dinner tonight?" "Okay! What time?" She consulted someone outside the room. "Seven?" "I might be a little late; I have a meeting until seven. How about seven ten?" More consultation. "Okay. In Yacht Club okay?" "Sounds great! What's your name?" ¡Ö¤Á¤°¡×(chigu) "Okay; see you at 7:10." I imagine that was part of her class homework. I wonder which teacher! - - - - Shunji's 73rd birthday is in a few days and he planned a party so we are invited to that. Oh shit I'm not feeling too good right now; a bit lightheaded. We made a birthday card for him; printed out his picture on the color printer and I gave it to Aki to make the card. permalinkLately 4:25pm MVT Thursday 09 June 2005 I've been sick lately: diarreah mostly. Yesterday I vomited once and passed out nearly 2 times. One of the times I didn't pass out because I crumpled to the toilet, allowing blood to my brain. The first time I did the same, but passed out anyway. - - - - I took a nap between my classes and then after my second class before Study With, where I am now. No one has come in to study with me though Mimo answered, "Rob" to a question just as I was coming up the stairs. I guessed the question was, "who's doing Study With?" because they were waiting right outside GET Street. - - - - Definitions: GET: Global English/Espanol Training GET Street: a set of ten numbered rooms in one hallway which have been specifially allocated for GET classes Study With: a time/place during which students can study and ask any random questions. permalinkanti dinner dates 7:16pm Thursday 09 June 2005 My dinner "date" did not show up. Dave said he was asked as well but his person did not show up. He heard two people were asked to lunch and their dates did not show up. I'm not sure if it was all an elaborate hoax, or if there was a misunderstanding about what "how about dinner?" means. permalinkslideshow 10:21pm MVT Thursday 09 June 2005 Watched a slideshow and a presentation on Peace in the Broadway Lounge (big room in the back of the boat on 7th deck). He made one interesting point about which I had not previously thought: world peace is not just about humans, but we could benefit by making peace with animals, plants, oceans, atmosphere, earth. The slides were nice, too. permalinkzz 1:27am MVT Friday 10 June 2005 MVT, by the way, means Maldives Time. Nice. Today I finished being sick, basically; although still a bit of diarreah, I've stopped feeling ill. Super duper special thanks to Kris for doing so much work toward the All English / All Japanese / All Silence day posters! Tomorrow from 2pm to 10pm we GET teachers are only allowed to speak Japanese, unless required otherwise by job responsibilities. On the 11th, students and others who choose to participate are not allowed to speak at all from 5am to 1pm (including lunch, by design) and will have to use gestures to communicate. Then from 1pm to 10pm will only be allowed to speak using English (and gestures). Crap; that reminds me: I was supposed to look up the ASL signs for brother and sister today. I forgot to do that... Should I go down and look for them on Encarta? ps: Encarta is *really* cool. Katt painted my toenails green tonight, in preparation for the formal dinner tomorrow night. She asked me what color tie I planned to wear (so that she could more properly choose a nail polish color) and I was like, "I don't know; I don't even know what color ties I have here." I'm not super tired now; I'll go down and scope Encarta. pps: I am super far behind on transcribing audio tapes. Like 2 tapes behind. permalinkprev day next day |
