My dad was at church leading the newcomers meeting, describing what it would mean for them to commit to the church. He was winging his speech and I could tell he was nervous. Afterward, he was talking to people and I was nearby, but didn't turn around when he exchanged nice-to-meet-yous with a couple of guys. I didn't want to meet them cause they were saying some bullshit about how great his speech was and it really wasn't. I was just going to say "man you were really nervous and it showed" but I didn't want him to lose face in front of his new friends or for them to lose face in front of him.

am I turning Japanese? (in Japan it's socially important to not make anyone embarassed)

Time

In seven minutes the time will be Roku ji han. "six o'clock half." I remember this from when I fell asleep studying around jiu ni ji "twelve o'clock."

Work

Good stuff at work:

!) My day started out busy and then tapered off at the end.

@) A couple of lessons were really funny slash really great for other reasons.

#) The best lesson was one that started out badly (not in a bad bad way, but I couldn't find a folder and when I told the student I couldn't find the folder, he assumed I meant he was in the wrong room)

$) Steve wasn't there (always true on Saturdays)

%) One more thing that I don't remember.

^) A full 170 degree rainbow greeted me as I left the building.

&) I got a seat on the train on the way home.

I remembered what I had forgotten for number % above. In the teachers' lounge we often play music and the music is often hip hop.
