Traffic

4:35pm CDT Sunday 30 June 2002

Traffic was poopy on the way home. I-45 south was closed under the beltway on the north side. Then 59 south was down to one lane where it went under the bridges. The lanes of traffic are being shifted to the newly poured lanes on the right. Those are the ones that I've ridden my bike on several times.

I did see some motorcyclists riding 70-80+ mph and popping wheelies while riding on the highway. This was going down 45 south before we got slowed by the beltway closure. I never got close enough for a pic.

Wende called me when she was done with work; I'm going to collect some of my stuff from her storage unit and help her get some stuff to her storage unit. Traffic on 59 north was wacked out because a guy's truck caught on fire. Big hook and ladder firetruck was there to put it out. Wow.

Things to do when I get back, or when I get back from Japan:

Step into an empty life and be willing to sit without distractions. Be willing to look at possibility of creating a stable wealthful life without a 40 hour per week job.

By doing this trip, in what ways am I running away?
What am I running from?

Old news:

  • No rent to pay
  • Fear that my friends will lose touch with me
  • Increase cost for fuel
  • Don't know where I'll stay from night to night
  • Still need to pay $5500 debt (credit card and computer)
  • ProsCons
    • No apartment to call home
  • Opportunity to step through fear
  • Get to travel (according to my journal entries from late 1998 and early 1999 (the last time I was in a no-job situation), the times I was most excited was when I got to travel.)
  • Hang out with different friends that I haven't seen in a while
  • Get to stay someplace new from night to night
  • Acquire lots of stories to share
