Quite possibly the most beautiful and unusual experience on the trip was watching humming birds feed from 4 different feeder things, zipping around so fast we could clearly hear their humming wings, and so close that they would sometimes brush past our clothing. Absolutely amazing.
Four different feeders were hanging from a wire, and the birds would zip in and out of the nearby bushes and sip nectar from them and vanish back into the bushes.
Here's a closeup (kinda blurry) of a green one. Here's a more focused version. Here is a nice blue one!
This little green-with-white-neck-stripe species would never stop flying to drink. See?
There were so many of them flying around, there were often two or three or four at a feeder at a time. But they were so fast, the moments didn't last long!
There were some posers who enjoyed the nectar as well.
This was my favorite pic. I waited for only about a minute to get it.
This animal came sniffin' and snufflin' around looking for a morsel.
Nearby was a gift shop with normal gift shop type items. I took a pic of a puzzle box that I would have purchased for my brother. The frog is the one I would have gotten for him. The butterfly shows how it was designed.
