a bit cramped haha

10:36 Wednesday 14 October 2015 JST

Though amazingly, we each have AC power available at each seat, it's a bit cramped to have my computer on the tray table in front of me. As I type this, I'm actually using my USB keyboard while it's on my legs under the tray table.

Mouse motion is a bit cramped as well, so it's not a very good environment for computin', but I figured I'd give it a shot. Lunch is being served now.

at airport on time

Near my gate there are two tables featuring four electric outlets, each next to a USB charging outlet. I wonder how much power they can provide. I can charge my computer, but could I bring a rice maker and make rice here? What about an oven to roast a chicken?

fun with physics

12:55 Wednesday 14 October 2015 JST

After a nice lunch, and a nice nap, I decided to break out the art supplies and draw some art!

I brought four blank paperboard panels (I think they're called shikishi in Japanese), some pastel colored markers, and some bright colored markers.

Hmmm what to do, oh what to do. This is always my question when starting a new piece. I decided to go with bright green. I took out the marker, started to draw a sweeping curve.... but no ink came out. Actually it's paint, and I haven't used them in a while so maybe it's just a bit dried out.

I poked the nib of the marker on my pants leg and got the paint flowing again.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the result just after it happened, but the flight attendants were super friendly and accomodated me with wet towels to clean the paint off my pants.

Dang. I try to be so careful to consume as little as possible, but I guess those three or four hand towels can begin their new lives as rags or maybe as filler for a landfill. Sigh.

The flight attendants told me to not worry about the seat cushion, saying the cleaning staff could clean it... Yeah maybe, but that's paint. Unless these cushion covers are rated to be cleaned with turpentine.

watched movie inside out

18:10 Wednesday 14 October 2015 JST

Inside Out is the latest Pixar film I've seen. It hilariously and perfectly describes how emotions seem to work in our minds. Emotions in balance lead to a normal life, while unchecked emotion of any persuasion can lead to a bit of a disaster. I love how it answers so many unasked questions! "Ohhh! This explains why that happens!!"

Anyway, go see it. I hope to see it with Lin sometime. It's actually a reasonably good introduction into the idea of emotional growth.
